چکیده

We describe the fabrication of a chemical-sensitive nanofluidic device based on asymmetric nanopores whose transport characteristics can be modulated upon exposure to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). We show experimentally and theoretically that the current–voltage curves provide a suitable method to monitor the change of pore surface characteristics induced by H2O2 in solution from the electronic readouts. We demonstrate also that the single pore characteristics can be scaled to the case of a multipore membrane whose electric outputs can be readily controlled. Because H2O2 is an agent significant for medical diagnostics, the results should be useful for sensing nanofluidic devices. *Address correspondence to [email protected]

Ion Conducting Nanopores for (Bio)molecular Sensing: the iNAPO Project

Single conical nanopores in polymer foils are fabricated by means of the ion track etching technique. They are chemically modified so that they selectively react with certain molecules to be analyzed. This specific reaction is electrochemically monitored by measuring the electrolyte current flowing through the nanopores in an electrochemical cell. This current is dependent on the presence and c...

Amperometric sensing of hydrogen peroxide vapor for security screening

Rapid detection of the hydrogen peroxide precursor of peroxide explosives is required in numerous security screening applications. We describe a highly sensitive and selective amperometric detection of hydrogen peroxide vapor at an agarose-coated Prussian-blue (PB) modified thick-film carbon transducer. The sensor responds rapidly and reversibly to dynamic changes in the level of the peroxide v...

Asymmetric Epoxidation Using Hydrogen Peroxide as Oxidant.

Asymmetric epoxidation is one of the most important transformations in organic synthesis. Although tremendous progress was achieved in this field in the 1980s and 1990s, it is still desirable from both economical and ecological views to develop environmentally friendly catalytic epoxidation with a broad substrate scope. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe and cheap oxidant, which is easy to handle and ...

Metal-catalyzed asymmetric sulfoxidation, epoxidation and hydroxylation by hydrogen peroxide

The development of environmentally benign reactions is an important goal in synthetic organic chemistry and chemical engineering. However, catalytic enantioselective oxidations using transition-metal complexes are limited when the oxidant is hydrogen peroxide. The two main difficulties of using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of transition metal complexes are the homolytic cleavage generating...

Tungsten-Catalyzed Asymmetric Epoxidation of Allylic and Homoallylic Alcohols with Hydrogen Peroxide

A simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly asymmetric epoxidation of primary, secondary, tertiary allylic, and homoallylic alcohols has been accomplished. This process was promoted by a tungsten-bishydroxamic acid complex at room temperature with the use of aqueous 30% H2O2 as oxidant, yielding the products in 84-98% ee.
